EXCITING ADVANCES IN DENTAL TECHNOLOGY
“THIS ISN’T YOUR FATHER’S DENTISTRY”
-DR. JOEL I. NATHANSON, MASTER OF THE ACADEMY OF GENERAL DENTISTRY
Recent developments in technology are revolutionizing the dental experience like never before. New advances in the procedures used to diagnose dental disease and treat your teeth and gums are helping patients enjoy the benefits of more comfortable dental visits, better health and great-looking smiles. If you haven’t been to a dentist lately (and even if you have), here are a few examples of what modern dental practices like ours are offering to provide you more comfortable, better-quality dental care:
Waterlase is a patented technology that can provide comfortable dentistry without the need for shots, anesthesia and drills in many cases. Waterlase
combines laser energy and a spray of water, so there’s no heat or vibration as with the traditional dental drill. Since the procedure is highly accurate and can be used for a wide range of procedures, you can often do more at each appointment so that fewer dental visits are needed.
Lumineers are a terrific cosmetic solution for permanently stained, chipped, or crooked teeth. Created from a patented form of porcelain, Lumineers can be made as thin as a contact lens, yet are super strong to resist cracking. These “smile shapers” can transform misshapen, worn teeth into a naturally beautiful smile. The procedure is usually painless because there is no need to remove sensitive tooth structure as with conventional veneers.

Digital x-rays are “state of the art” in dental diagnostic imaging. Using much less radiation than traditional x-rays, the image is sent directly to a computer where it can be read on a large screen (rather than a small piece of plastic). The result is a much clearer, easier-to-read picture and better diagnosis.
CEREC is a porcelain dental restoration system that can be done in one office visit. CEREC’s computer-generated porcelain crowns and fillings involve no impressions, no temporaries, and no second visit is needed. A specialized camera takes a photograph of the prepared tooth---an “optical impression”, if you will---and transmits the information to a high-tech device that creates the restoration while you wait!

Sapphire Tooth Whitening is an effective way to get your teeth their whitest in a single appointment. Using a patented combination of break-through "blue light" and hydrogen-peroxide, the Sapphire technique whitens your teeth while you relax and enjoy a movie (or just take a nap), and the results last for years.

Invisalign is the invisible way to straighten teeth using a series of clear, custom-made, nearly undetectable aligners. Whether your teeth are crowded, too far apart or have shifted since having traditional orthodontics, Invisalign can help straighten your teeth without metal braces.
Diagnodent is a revolutionary new means of painlessly detecting hidden cavities using low-level laser energy. By examining suspicious areasand comparing the readings obtained with those of healthy tooth enamel, the Diagnodent can detect cavities in their early stages. This helps us to catch decay sooner, enabling us to restore the affected teeth with smaller, more conservative fillings and preserve precious tooth structure. Diagnodent examination can spare patients from lengthy "poking and prodding" sessions often miss.
